What is Leo's FFB Tuner?

- Leo's FFB Tuner by Nick 'Kosmo' Rammos is a GUI frontend tool for Leo's FFB to make tuning FFB easier
- Leo’s FFB Tuner comes with matching car-specific settings for many popular rFactor mods, making the most of Leo’s plugin that aims to provide better Force Feedback within rFactor
Notes:
- Java app
- Notice the available tuning fields:
- Front wheel lock angle (max deflection to one side straight on)
- Front wheel distance to centerline (half the front wheel track) in meters, from .pm file
- Front axle distance to body reference point (about half the wheel base) in meters, from .pm file
- Relative strength of FFB effects
- Aligning moment curve shape / feeling of tyre losing grip. Lower numbers are duller, range 1.0..10
- Negative aligning moment parameters for high slip angles, range 0.0..1.0
- Slip angle where aligning moment reverses direction - typically between 8 and 15 degrees
- Caster (dimensionless)
- Camber ratio (not degrees!)
- Road bumps feeling on the wheel
- Maximum FFB force for stationary and low speed effects
- Stiffness of stationary wheels
- Wheel rubber hardness (1..5)
- How quickly static forces drop off when rolling
Trivia:
- Leo's FFB was originally created by Leo Bodnar who is/was more well-known for early direct drive sim wheelbases and related electronics: https://www.leobodnar.com/
- This is confirmed by the LeoFFB.ini file included in the archive containing a copyright for Leo Bodnar.

Notes:
- These are reasonable deductions from the parameters names and not yet verified by actual usage (251213). Some clues in LeoFFB.ini.

== 251213 Fascinating 2011 thread about LeoFFB in GSC, NeilsH is in the replies https://www.overtake.gg/threads/leoffb-plugin-for-gsc.37633/ - NielsH comment on why RFP replaces Leo https://www.overtake.gg/threads/leoffb-plugin-for-gsc.37633/post-932415 "Before the latest version of Realfeel, it made sense to use LeoFFB as his plugin allowed a more realistic drop off of force feedback at high slip angles. The disadvantage of LeoFFB is that it doesn't use the suspension geometry part of the forces in real time, so it uses some static caster effect." "With GSC we have a new version of Realfeel thanks to TechAde! It has all of the advantages of LeoFFB without the drawbacks. The FrontGripEffect is a very good way to control the drop in forces at high slip angles, it is physics based, not a fudge factor. It works on tire model 'slip calculations', and you just set the amount between 0 and 1. So now RealFeel gives you real time effects of caster and jacking and all the clever suspension stuff, as well as believable ffb from the tires." "The only things we have from the LeoFFB plugin are the Kf Ks A and Kr values, which are only meant to work at really low speeds, so when you're in the pits the wheel feels heavy. These are NOT important once you're driving, so you can leave them at the defaults we provide with GSC." rFactor AddonTools link http://39data.web.fc2.com/tools.html - Leo FFB LoadIni 0.3 by zaphman http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=34675 - Leo's FFB plugin 1.00 by JoKeR68 http://www.rfactorcentral.com/dloader.cfm?dlID=36DD6F3F-EC9C-0A57-13F070FDB0D9ED00 - LFFBMngr 1.10 by Leo http://www.humyo.com/4973463/Uploaded%20Files/LeoFFB%20Manager.zip - leoFFBeditor 1.00 by OMega http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QIAJKGIL http://www.filefront.com/15888781/leoFFBeditor1_0.zip http://ul.to/6js8jz - Leo’s FFB Tuner 1.01 by Kosmo http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PVLK2M3Y - Leo’s FFB Tuner 1.0 by Kosmo http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6XMLRSR2 ==
