Mirroring and Seeding My Internet Archive Torrents
- Since uploading my mods to the Internet Archive (Archive.org) [3], I'm also experimenting with a bittorrent node to mirror/seed all the Archive.org torrents, myself, just in case archive.org ever dies (very unlikely) or they lose data.
- qBittorrent headless is quite nice. This is the Web GUI and it looks almost like the real GUI.
- I first uploaded to Archive.org and they automatically generate a torrent. So, I just download the torrent file they generated and added it to qBittorrent. And, voila, I'm seeding my own mods.
- Bittorrent is decentralized and designed in such a way that, even if Archive.org were to die or lose data, the torrent download will still work if any seeders are left, which is why modders should strive to seed their own mods when possible.
- You can limit the max upoad so even on a home internet connection this is very viable for regular people
